Between Tunisia and Sicily there is less distance than between Milan and Rome. Overlay was born to travel it in both directions: talent on one side, projects on the other.
The story
Overlay was founded in late 2025 in Tunis, from an idea by Andrea Virdi: build a stable professional bridge between Tunisian technical talent and the European companies that could put its skills to work.
We are not a CV marketplace and we are not body rental. We are an engineering company that selects, trains and grows its own engineers, and puts them to work inside client teams as colleagues, not as tickets.
Why Tunisia
Every year Tunisian universities and engineering schools train thousands of well-prepared, multilingual, ambitious engineers. The local market cannot absorb them all, and the historical alternative is emigration. Ethical nearshoring is the third way: international careers from home, European companies finding the talent they need, value staying on both shores.
The time zone is the same as central Europe, the flight from Palermo or Rome takes an hour, and the working languages are already there: French and English.
The ecosystem
Overlay is part of the Tecnopolo Magnetico ecosystem, which connects Sicily and Tunisia on innovation, training and culture. It is this network that lets us do things properly: university relationships, spaces, mentors, and a technical community growing together with client projects.
