The model
Ethical is not an adjective. It's the model.
Cheap offshore squeezes costs and burns people out. We do the opposite: select carefully, pay fairly, train our people and reinvest part of the revenue in the territory that gives us the talent.
How we select
We delegate nothing of the selection: it is the core of our value. Every engineer we propose has passed a complete path, and their profile proves it.
- Technical screening run by senior engineers, not by generalist recruiters.
- Hands-on test on real scenarios: infrastructure to fix, a pipeline to build, an incident to manage.
- Working-language check: French and English.
- Targeted training on your stack before the first working day.
How we work together
It almost always starts with a pilot: one engineer, a reduced rate, shared measurable goals. If the results are there, you scale to a pod with a technical lead or a dedicated engineer. The contract is simple: a daily rate, 220 working days a year, CET time zone, your tools.
- Reduced-rate pilot with measurable goals.
- Pod with a technical lead for capacity that scales.
- Dedicated engineer for long-term continuity.
Fair conditions, by contract
Our engineers have stable contracts, fair pay for the Tunisian market and growth paths with mentors. It is not philanthropy: it is quality engineering. A professional who is treated well stays, grows, and your team doesn't restart from zero every six months.
Where the margin goes
Part of every contract's revenue funds paid internships and collaborations with Tunisian universities: labs, mentorship, Cloud and DevOps curricula. We document the interns' activities in the news section, with real names and real projects.
For your ESG report this is concrete material on the social pillar: funded training, qualified employment created, mobility that becomes opportunity instead of brain drain.
The ecosystem: Overlay does not work alone
Overlay is a node in a larger network. At its centre is the Tecnopolo Magnetico, in the inland area of the province of Enna: the technological, organisational and cultural hub of the project, and the integration point between the Italian and Tunisian ecosystems. Schools, technical institutes, universities and training centres in Sicily and Tunisia are the strategic partners that feed the talent pipeline and ensure its long-term continuity.
The Tecnopolo Magnetico
A space dedicated to innovation and skills development, conceived as a structured meeting point between training and business. It was created with an explicit ethical purpose: to contribute to local development, counter talent dispersion and create qualified growth opportunities in areas at risk of marginalisation. Founded by the Associazione Culturale Magnetico, it is the keystone and the governance element of the entire Overlay project.
- Training paths aligned with the real needs of European companies and MSPs on Cloud, DevOps and AI infrastructure.
- Operational experimentation of procedures, tools and remote, asynchronous working methods, transferable to nearshore teams.
- Governance and technical standards: system access, environment segregation, logging and activity traceability.
- Territorial reinvestment: qualified employment in inland Sicily, less forced emigration.
Schools and universities
Collaboration with schools, technical institutes, universities and training centres in Sicily and Tunisia is a founding pillar, not just a recruitment channel. With these institutions we co-design curricula kept current with the technologies and procedures actually in use, with hands-on modules and labs.
The value is concrete: preventing qualified emigration. Many ICT-trained young people are pushed to emigrate into precarious conditions; Overlay offers a structured alternative — qualified work in their places of origin, or in a regulated remote mode.
The Associazione Culturale Magnetico, the ethical guarantor
Magnetico guarantees the ethical dimension of the project: that nearshoring is not reduced to a cost-cutting lever and does not produce wage dumping or exploitation of human capital. It promotes the valorisation of local skills, in both Sicily and Tunisia, and transparency toward companies, training bodies and institutional partners.
